Argex® is a lightweight, strong and porous aggregate that can be used in many different ways to solve problems within construction and civil engineering projects.
Lightweight Fill Materials For:
1. Waterside retains walls and harbours.
When used behind retaining walls, Argex granules reduce the weight applied to the back of the structure by at least 60% compared to traditional backfill material. This weight reduction prevents and drastically reduces the hydrostatic pressure due to the high drainage capacity of Argex granules. Additional savings can be made with Argex by simply making the construction lighter.
2. Sub base for roads and pavements in areas subject to settlement.
Argex® can be used a fill material to support roads and pavement in sections which are prone to settlement. It also will protect against freeze thaw, and work as a highly effective drainage layer.
3. Infiltration basins & water buffers
The ideal lightweight raw material for water buffer and infiltration basins is a package of expanded clay aggregates, packed in an open or closed geo-textile membrane. The open spaces in and between the grains ensure ideal drainage, and Argex’s porous nature enable a slow release. In addition, Argex® grains can be blown by a silo truck over a distance of up to 100m. So, perfect for a quick and easy placement on sites with limited accessibility and/or drivability.
4. Landscaped and sculpted areas
Argex can be used to create new features such as hill and banks. It’s drainage facilities and strength make it ideal for this purpose. Able to create inclines of up to 35 degrees.
5. Bridges and embankments
Lightweight aggregate is perfect for reducing load forces on bridges and embankments. Reducing the weight by at least 60% over traditional materials, and increasing the drainage - thus removing future problems.
